Keiko Tanabe was born in Kyoto, Japan and currently resides in San Diego, California. She
regularly travels internationally teaching workshops and painting en Plein air. Keiko has
been an invited guest artist to Europe’s largest plein air festival in Wexford, Art In The Open,
where she has painted the works for her solo exhibition.
Keiko feels at home in the Irish landscape and returns year after year to capture seascapes
with piers full of boats, landscapes with farmyards of animals, rolling hills with cottages and
sheep, each telling a unique story filled with atmosphere and light. Her watercolours are
expressive, evoking a sense of calm and peace, her brush marks portray a whisper of
Japanese calligraphy.
Keiko has successfully shown her work at The Rosslare Gallery and it is a wonderful
opportunity to see her full collection of Irish paintings at this year’s fringe festival celebrating
the 75th Wexford Festival Opera.
