Dublin born Artist Sheila Mac Nally studied art in Ballyfermot SC, Dun
Laoghaire College of Art and Design and NCAD.
Having worked and travelled extensively as a professional decorative artist she later settled in County Wexford, turned to painting in oils and was introduced to working en plein air.
She participates and exhibits with the annual international Art in the Open Festival, county Wexford. She is an active member and facilitator of the vibrant 89 member Southeast plein air group as well as working from her studio on larger scale pieces and private commissions. She refreshes her drawing skills through regular life drawing in charcoal and conté. Her current focus is on portraiture and specifically portraits of family Carers.
Sheila teaches adult beginner art classes in Gorey CS and enjoys helping people find or rediscover a love of art. She founded the Gorey life drawing group running from Gorey School of Art.
"I feel incredibly lucky to be able to express how I experience the world
through art. I like to see each piece as a learning experience; each subject and the conditions affecting it have something new to teach me. Being able to share that enjoyment with others via my own work or teaching gives me great satisfaction.”
